Thyme Essential Oil Description:
Organic Thyme Essential Oil is a very ancient and highly respected oil. Derived from the Thymus Zygis plant, the name was obtained from the Greek word thymos, meaning perfume. Thyme Essential Oil uses and benefits were numerous to the ancients, with the Greeks and Romans using it in their temples, the Egyptians using it in their embalming process, and during the Middle ages it was used to invigorate one with courage.
This evergreen perennial shrub has a woody root system, branched stem, small elliptical greenish-gray aromatic leaves, and pale purple, “some thyme’s” mixed with white, flowers. The scent is sharp, warming, fresh, and herbaceous.
Thyme Essential Oil Uses:
Thyme is strong and herbaceous and has been known as a medicinal herb since ancient times, owing to its high thymol content. White Thyme Essential Oil is reputed for having uplifting properties, and Red Thyme has a sweeter, leafy smell.
It was used in herbal medicines by the ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Romans, as incense in Greek temples, and in embalming by the Egyptians. It has been popular as a flavoring agent in foods for Millennia.
Thyme Essential Oil Directions:
Aromatic Diffusion: Add two to four drops to your favorite diffuser.
Topical application: Dilute one drop to four drops of your favorite vegetable base Carrier Oil and add to desired area and gently massage in.
Note:
This oil may form crystals during transit or storage. Gentle warming in a hot water bath and stirring may be required.
Precautions:
White Thyme contains a high amount of thymol that can irritate mucus membranes. Dilute before use. Skin irritation may occur; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children. Consult your health care provider prior to use if you are pregnant or nursing, have a medical condition or are taking medications.
